Reflections and Paragraph

For my reflection on the topic that I have chosen would be how i felt. The way that i felt while i was doing my research was that the information that I looked up supported all of my reasonings. The level of difficulty was kinda easy, when I was finding my information it was an easy. Looking up my information was easy but finding a graph to go with my subject was one of the hardest parts. I enjoyed the wordle creations, and creating my commercial. I disliked doing the Quoting and paraphrasing.

Wordle: wordle #2

Quote, paraphrase, and citation #3

Quote: Cell phones were banned from most schools years ago, but after the Columbine High School and 9/11 tragedies, parents started pressuring some school boards and administrators to reverse the bans.

Paraphrase: After 9/11 parents feel as if that students should be able to be reached so that if it was to happen again they could be reached. http://www.districtadministration.com/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=2199

Paraphrase: In the event of a tragedy a parent or student can reach each other in a timely manner.

Quote, paraphrase, and citation #1

Quote: Parents and kids rely on it for communication. Some use it as their clock, camera, planner, entertainment system, news source and encyclopedia. The phone is only a tiny component of this high-tech palm-sized computer.

Paraphrase: They are saying that students use their cell phones for just more than texting. Student rely on their phones for more than just texting. Students use there phones as a research, camera,or even a dictionary.

Findings #2

Why would the student handbook make the parent come pick up the item if its confiscated ? I think that the district should rethink this. Parents shouldnt have to get off there busy schedule to come pick up a item that could be given back at the end of the day. The item shouldnt be confiscated on the first offense. Why is there a warning on a tardy but not on a cell phone violation?

Findings #1

Why would the school suspend having cell phones on? Some cases parents tell their child that he/she may need to get in contact with them that day so the parents may text/call them during the break of the students day. I feel that the student has the right to have his or her cell phone on as long as its no distractions.

Findings #1

Why would school ban cell phone usage? Ex. I feel as if the student isnt causing a disruption or isnt distracted by his/her cell phone i feel like the students phone may be on. But the school feels as if the phone should be turnt off upon arrival.

What i Want to know about my topic

Here are some pros and cons about cell phones in school:
You can be in touch with your children, and know their whereabouts.
Your kids can reach you in the event of an emergency, or reach them.
If in danger, your children can reach the authorities or a medical provider.
Phones can be silenced during class or study periods, and active only in appropriate places.
With cell phones, you can easily reach your kids for any reason: to ask them questions, change plans, or to simply say hello.
Phones can be used as cheating devices during exams

What I alredy know about my topics

What I know that the cell phone is that upon your arrival it should be turnt off until dissmissal. I know that everybodys not gonna have their phone turnt off because who knows what situation a student might be going through at home and may need his or her cell phone needed on at school. So therefore I think a students phone should be allowed to be on as long as the phone doesent interfere with others or thatt student.

The Story behind my topic choice

Why as a student you cant have your cell phones out or even on? I thing students should be able to have their cell phones out while they are not in class long as it is not effecting their learning. If a student is at lunch, break, gym, etc it shouldnt hurt. Its no big deal!!
